You Don’t Need a New You This Year
There’s always so much noise at the end of the year about becoming your “best self,” reinventing your life, or stepping into a completely new version of you.
But what if growth doesn’t require becoming someone else?
My extended family in Taiwan follows the lunar calendar, and with this being the end of the Year of the Snake, there’s a beautiful idea tied to this season: shedding what’s no longer needed. Letting go of what once protected you, but no longer fits who you’re becoming.
I love that perspective.
As I reflected on this year, I started thinking less about reinvention and more about alignment. Not fixing yourself. Not forcing transformation. Just noticing what feels true — and what doesn’t anymore.
That’s what inspired the “25 for 25” prompts: thoughtful questions designed to help you reflect, reset, and move into the new year with more clarity and intention.
A few favorites:
- What gave you the most peace this year?
- Your environment is stronger than willpower. How can you make things easier for yourself?
- What’s the balance between healthy challenge and overwhelm for you?

There’s real value in asking better questions. Not just “What are my goals?” but:
- Where am I out of alignment?
- Where am I forcing instead of flowing?
- What actually makes me feel alive?
You don’t need to become “new.”
You may just need a quieter check-in with yourself.
Use what resonates. Leave what doesn’t. But if you take one thing into the new year, let it be this:
Build a life that feels true to you.
And if these reflections make you want to create more space for what matters most, the Practice with Purpose framework and planner were created exactly for that.
