7 Lessons on the Power of Routine

inspiration mind routine

The gap between what you want to achieve and what you do to get there can be big, and often we put all sorts of obstacles in our own way.

We tell ourselves:

  • it’s hard!
  • I'm not motivated
  • I'm not productive enough
  • something MUST BE wrong with ME!

INSTEAD, LET'S MAKE A PLAN FOR SUCCESS!

LESSON #1: START SMALL

Start small.

Like compound interest, the effects of your habits multiply as you repeat them across time.

Results are the natural outcome of many small improvements so start small.

And, do not underestimate what a little can do over time!

LESSON #2: FORGET ABOUT THE RESULTS

We know, this seems really weird. BUT - here's where you should focus.

Focus on the effort.

The routine. The habit. What you're doing in this moment.

The results will come or they won't.

That's not your business right now.

You must trust the routine or it will never stick!

LESSON #3: ASK NOT IF

Focus on the WHAT and the HOW.

Routines simplify things.

Having routines won't make you less creative, or boring, or steal your imagination.

Let the limitations set you free!

LESSON #4: MOTIVATION IS OVERRATED

You think you need to feel motivated.

Really you need a plan + clarity.

Routines provide that clarity.

LESSON #5: BUILDING A ROUTINE IS SIMPLE BUT NOT EASY

You need a clear goal and a plan of specific behaviors.

Make it so easy, you can't say no.

Recover quickly when you veer off the path.

Be patient and stick to a pace you can sustain!

LESSON #6: SAY NO

Sometimes you have to say no to someone else, but most often this means saying no to yourself.

Get good at prioritizing what needs to be done today.

Say no to everything else.

Say no to distractions.

LESSON #7: CONNECT TO YOUR ULTIMATE WHY

Connecting to your ultimate WHY is one of the most important things you can do in this process. It's your guiding light.

Why do you want to build the routine? Why do you want to manage your time? Keep this answer close to you. Put it on your mirror. Write it down multiple times a day. We need to be reminded of things... constantly!

We hope this helps you knock down some of the barriers between you and your routines... much love!
