Annie Phillips is a musician, educator, and arts advocate based in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has previously served on the faculty of the New England Conservatory and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she focused on professional development, arts entrepreneurship, and preparing musicians for sustainable creative careers. She also co-directed Switchboard Music in San Francisco, where she helped lead over a decade of programming featuring more than 150 performances by hundreds of musicians, and was recognized with an ASCAP/Chamber Music America Adventurous Programming Award.
In addition to her academic work, Annie has held leadership roles across the arts sector, including Programs and Operations Lead at Zoo Labs, a music accelerator supporting artist development and creative entrepreneurship, and Managing Director of the Magik*Magik Orchestra, where she helped develop large-scale educational and performance initiatives generating significant opportunities for Bay Area musicians. She has also worked in publicity and communications for organizations including the San Francisco Symphony, the Grammy-nominated Bay Brass, Sqwonk, The Living Earth Show, and Mobius Trio, and has contributed to innovative chamber music projects as a founding member of Nonsemble 6.
Annie’s work centers on bridging artistic practice with career development, and she has taught and developed courses in professional development and arts marketing while leading more than 1,500 individual coaching sessions with musicians at all stages of their careers. She is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and trained at the Peabody Conservatory and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Earlier in her career, she performed as soloist with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and continues to explore creative work at the intersection of performance, education, and arts entrepreneurship.
