Jason Denner: Phrasing is Everything

Jason Denner is a clarinetist who built a thriving career in Germany. In this workshop, you'll learn in his words: that phrasing isn't just getting louder or softer. It is articulation, accents, color, tone quality, tempo, and balance. Anything you can change, you can use to express the music better.
But how do you know when and what to change? It's based on the understanding of the music, how it's built, and where it should "go". Harmonic music builds to a moment of tension and then release. But every tradition is different!
He'll also answer questions about forging a meaningful life in music, how to make real connections and build relationships that last, and how those things became central to rooting himself somewhere new.
